Miss Cuttle’s fourth-grade class at North Scituate Elementary has absolutely loved getting to buddy up with 1st grade. The students have done such a nice job acting as role models and helping their buddies read their books. They look forward to this time every Friday!

At North Scituate Elementary, students practiced using different measuring tools to measure classroom objects in Mrs. Bettez's class.

Mr. McGovern's class is off to a great start this year! We have been busy in math learning multiplication and division. We have been exploring local Scituate town history and helping students to take pride in their community. We ventured into the past to learn about dinosaurs and fossils in science. We even "raced" dinosaurs to see if we could outrun them, we unfortunately could not!

North Scituate Elementary School students who earned 50 stars in the month of September had the opportunity to duct tape their Principal to the wall! Students earn stars by exhibiting our three PBIS characteristics: Respect, Responsibility, and Readiness to Learn!

October is National Principals Month, and we have some of the best around at the Scituate School Department! Our principals go above and beyond for our students every day, making sure our students are experiencing engaging learning and feel safe and supported in their environments, all while supporting our educators and staff so that they can create the best classroom experiences for our students. We are so grateful to have them working hard in our schools. Thank you, SHS Principal Hassell, Assistant Principal Goffe, SMS Principal Morel, Hope Principal Toomey, Clayville Principal Boutiette, and North Scituate Principal Gallivan!

Look at this amazing number practice in Ms. Murphy's Kindergarten class! North Scituate Elementary School students are so excited to show off their number writing skills!

STAR Students are chosen each week by their teacher for demonstrating respect, responsibility, and readiness to learn. Congratulations to all the students who have exemplified these qualities! Families of selected students receive a positive phone call home from Mr. Gallivan celebrating their child’s success.
Congratulations to the North Scituate Elementary 2025-2026 Student Council Winners!

North Scituate students enjoyed Arts Night in May with their family and friends! Students loved being able to show their families their artwork displayed around the school. Students also showcased their talents through a wonderful performance and had the chance to visit the book fair!

Congratulations to our North Scituate students who earned positive office referrals last month!
North Scituate's Mrs. Grissom won a Recess Visit from College Athletes through Recess Rocks in Rhode Island (RRRI). On Friday, April 4th, Bryant College athletes joined students for recess to play games and talk about teamwork and being a good sport! They helped make recess EXTRA fun! Huge thank you to Karin Wetherill (RI Healthy Schools Coalition), Jessi & Margaux (Playworks coaches), and the Bryant Athletes for making this possible!
Students at North Scituate debated on the topic of "Should children be paid for chores, yes or no?" Students picked a side, then researched and argued it. Prior to the debate, students brainstormed sentence starters with their teacher. There were three jobs for each team, and students discussed who would take on each job. Principal Soccio was impressed to see the level of respect for each other's opinions while arguing their own points. Students worked well together to ensure everyone's voice was heard.
The author Jen Calonita, a Scholastic and Disney author, did a virtual visit with Ms. Cuttle's 4th grade class at North Scituate Elementary! Students read one of her books as a full-class read-aloud before this visit, and the students had so many questions to ask. They really enjoyed the time with her and are looking forward to her newest book, Island of Ever, coming out this month. As well as her next The Taylors book that will be at the book fair in the fall!
Another successful High-Five Friday at North Scituate Elementary School! Thank you to our HOSA Club and Biomedical students for spreading some smiles and high-fives to our elementary students.
